    Subject: Old book from the end of the 18th century. Religion. Artistic binding. Translator: Vicente Montó y Robaj. Binder: Santiago Martín Sanz.

    Publication: Alcalá de Henares, Isidro López y Arabaca, 1795.

    Description: 8th. 399 pages, [1] blank, 51 pages. Empire style binding. Green morocco. Golden border with seed beads and plant motifs framing the anagram 'M' on the front and 'F' on the back, both with a prince's crown. Gilded irons on spine, edges and counter edges. Golden cuts. Decorated with circles with plant motifs, leaving free squares in the corners that house geometric figures.

    Binding: Santiago Martín Sanz (1775-1828) was a Toledo bookbinder, established in Madrid between the 18th and 19th centuries. Martín's works are particularly attractive, since he worked with the "Valencian pasta" type with peculiar taste. He had a position at the Royal Library as a chamber binder in the early 19th century.

    Conservation: Good condition. Good specimen, careful. Some rust on the text.

    Notes: This ancient book was printed in Alcalá de Henares and has a binding belonging to the Princess of Asturias María Antonia de Borbón and Fernando VII. María Antonia de Borbón was Princess of Asturias (1784-1806) and was the first wife of Fernando VII, who was Prince of Asturias.
