Notes: Rare edition of Bernardo de Balbuena's epic poem, written between 1592 and 1602 and first published in Madrid in 1624. The work, consisting of 40,000 verses in ottava rima, has been compared to a kind of book of chivalry in verse, partially inspired by the legend of Bernardo del Carpio. Considered by many to be the pinnacle of Spanish Baroque cultured epic poetry, this edition is accompanied by illustrations by Antoni Saló Marco (1885-1950).
Limited edition of 200 copies (unnumbered copy).
Condition: Perfect state of preservation except for the binding, which has many defects and losses as is common with all copies.
