Luigi Veronesi (1908-1998): Italian painter, photographer, set designer and film director. He began his artistic activity during the decade of 1920 studying as a textile designer, and practicing photography. At the age of twenty he became interested in painting and took courses with the Neapolitan painter Carmelo Violante, then professor at the Accademia Carrara in Bergamo. His first works, of a figurative type, were presented at the Milione Gallery in Milan, although he soon began his research in the field of abstract art. In 1934 he joined the Abstraction-Création group in Paris, experimented with constructivism and joined the German Bauhaus method. He participated in the first collective exhibition of abstract art in Italy, in 1935 in Turin, together with the artists who signed the “Manifesto of the First Collective Exhibition of Italian Abstract Art” and participated in the Milan Triennial in 1936. Veronesi was also very active in theater and then in cinema with six experimental and abstract films made between 1938-1980.
