Manuel Millares Sall, better known as Manolo Millares (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, February 17, 1926 - Madrid, August 14, 1972), was a Canarian painter and engraver. Co-founder of the El Paso Group in 1957, he initially painted landscapes, figure paintings and self-portraits in a style reminiscent of Van Gogh. Since 1949 he has devoted himself to abstract painting. His works are characterized by the use of burlap as a support, also sewn to form volumes in which he could incorporate other objects such as tubes of cardboard or cans, as well as the predominance of black and white paint in the final finish of the work.

Bibliography: Catalogue raisonné Manolo Millares (1959-1972)

Notes: This silkscreen belongs to the folder "Descubrimientos Millares, 1671" in which the Canarian artist plays with Indian ink and smoke-grey Indian wash.
