    Morikawa Chikashige, a woodblock print artist, created works of art that bear a stylistic and thematic resemblance to those of Toyohara Kunichika, his mentor.

    Information about Morikawa Chikashige's life, including birth and death dates, is scarce. However, his artistic lineage is well documented: he was apprenticed to the ukiyo-e artist Meiji Kunichika Toyohara . Despite the paucity of biographical details, Chikashige's legacy endures through an important body of woodcuts.
