    Conservation: Very good condition. Mounted on museum quality passepartout, acid free and ph neutral.

    Nikolaus Joseph von Jacquin: Botanist of the Enlightenment

    Nikolaus Joseph von Jacquin (1727-1817) was a prominent Dutch botanist and chemist of the 18th century. After expeditions to the West Indies to catalogue flora, he became a professor at the University of Vienna and director of its botanical gardens.

    He is famous for his detailed descriptions and illustrations of plants. Among his most important works is “Plantarum Rariorum Horti Schoenbrunnensis” (1797-1804), a monumental publication documenting the rare species cultivated in the imperial garden of Schoenbrunn, consolidating his legacy in botany.

    The quality of the engravings in “Plantarum Rariorum Horti Schoenbrunnensis” is exceptional and highly valued in the history of botanical illustration. The hand-colored plates are known for their scientific precision and great artistic beauty.
