    Description: Octavo (21 cm.) VIII pages including title page and foreword, 424 pages. Binding leather period, with tejuelo, and gilt irons on the spine; gilt wheel on the plans. 

    Conservation: Good condition. Abundant wear on the binding.

    Other information: Claudio Boutelou y Argaz (Aranjuez, 1774-Sevilla, 1842), was a Spanish agronomist and botanist of French descent. He was the great-grandson of the French landscape gardener Esteban Boutelou I, famous for his work at Aranjuez, where he was head gardener from 1716, and at La Granja; he was also the grandson of Esteban Boutelou II, who succeeded his father at Aranjuez, and brother of the botanist Esteban Boutelou III. He studied agriculture and horticulture in France and England thanks to a royal pension, and later joined the Botanical Garden of Madrid, where he became director and where he taught until his expulsion from the garden in 1814 because of his French affiliation.
