Francisco Javier Ortego y Vereda (1833-1881): Cartoonist, Humorist and Painter.
His prolific career as a cartoonist and illustrator in Spanish satirical publications such as Gil Blas, El Fisgón or La Flaca during the 19th century. He was also an academic painter, with works such as “La Muerte de Cristóbal Colón” (The Death of Christopher Columbus).
He is known for having collaborated in the design of the first advertising poster in Spain, “Los gordos y los flacos”, for Chocolates Matías López. Some researchers also point to him as the possible author of the controversial work Los Borbones en pelota.
Very rare.
