    Philippe-Constant Sappey was an eminent French physician and anatomist who lived in the 19th century, born in 1810 and died in 1896. He consolidated his career as Professor of Anatomy at the prestigious Faculty of Medicine in Paris, where he devoted himself to teaching and studying descriptive anatomy. Sappey is particularly famous for his meticulous work in describing the lymphatic system, conducting fundamental research that led to the identification of structures that are now known by his name, such as Sappey's plexuses. His main written legacy is the influential “Traité d'anatomie descriptive” (Treatise on Descriptive Anatomy), a reference work published in several volumes, which stood out for the accuracy of its descriptions and illustrations.
