Condition: Very good condition.
Aureliano Maestre de San Juan (1828-1890) was the “father of Spanish histology” in the 19th century. A physician and anatomist, he was the first professor of histology at the Central University of Madrid (1873), where he trained figures such as Santiago Ramón y Cajal.
His seminal work is the “Treatise on General Anatomy” (1872), the first modern Spanish manual that introduced and systematized advances in histology and the use of the microscope in Spain, marking a milestone in the teaching of morphological sciences.
