    This work compiles the religious and charitable life of the Hospitaller Order of St John of God, approved by Pope Pius V in 1572. Founded to perpetuate St John of God’s work in Granada, the Order became one of the most influential and widespread hospital institutions worldwide during the 17th and 18th centuries. This 1799 edition reproduces—possibly with additions or corrections—the text first approved in 1640 and reprinted in 1799. Its contents detail the spiritual, ethical, and organizational principles that guided patient care, making it a primary source of great value for the study of nursing history, hospital assistance, and religious life in Enlightenment-era Spain.
