    Binding: Artistic and luxurious 19th century binding, in multicoloured marroquin, made and signed by the collector and master bookbinder Léon Gruel (1841-1923). On the top five gilded fillets, inside a gilded wheel with filigree work. Spines with five highlighted ribs, signed by Gruel, gilded and chiseled cuts with geometric and vegetal elements.

    Other information: Ex libris chalcograph by Ysabel Sánchez de Movellán.

    León Gruel: French bookbinder of the 19th century (1841-1923) who followed the trend of retrospective binding that had prevailed since the middle of the century. His workshop produced work, according to the prevailing custom of the time, aimed at a non-expert bourgeois public and intended for gifts and commemorations, such as wedding books, etc. His Manuel historique et bibliographique de l'amateur de reliures (Paris 1887-1905, 2 vols.) is one of the most important encyclopedias on French bookbinding.
