    Subject: Antique engraving from the 17th century. Dutch painters. Mannerism - Jacob Matham and Hendrick Goltzius.

    Publication: circa 1600. Engraving by Matham after Goltzius. Inscribed at the bottom: "HGoltzius invent I. Matham sculp[sit] R. de bau exe[cutit]".

    Technique: 1 print. Intaglio engraving.

    Size: 24'5 x 17'8 cm [print], 26'5 x 18 cm [paper], 48'7 x 40 cm [passepartout].

    Visual description: Christ at a table with two disciples at Emmaus. Two verses at the foot of the engraving, signed by C. Schoenus: "Discipuli agnoscunt (...) admiratio pectus".

    Conservation: Short margins at the edge of the imprint of the engraving and darkened in this area due to the effect of the system of adhesion to another sheet.

    Provenance: Engraving belonging to the art collection of Gaspar de Haro y Guzmán, 7th Marquis of Carpio and Eliche (1629 - 1687), Spanish nobleman, diplomat and politician. He was the son of the collector Luis de Haro, from whom he inherited a large repertoire of paintings, which he gradually expanded with works of great quality.
