    Description: The god Hymenaeus in an oval frame holds a torch in his left hand.

    References: Hollstein, Vol. VIII, p. 138.

    Conservation: Very good impression and good state of preservation. Margins short at the edge of the engraving's image.

    Provenance: Engraving from the art collection of Gaspar de Haro y Guzmán, 7th Marquis of Carpio and Eliche (1629-1687), Spanish nobleman, diplomat, and politician. He was the son of fellow collector Luis de Haro, from whom he inherited a large repertoire of paintings, which he progressively expanded with works of great quality.

    Claes Jansz Visscher (1587-1652): Engraver and publisher from Amsterdam, founder of the Visscher family publishing company. He was also known as "Piscator." Upon his death, his son Nicolaes Visscher I continued his father's business.
