Publication: Salamanca, Juan Baptista de Terranova, 1569.

Physical description: 2 sheets (including cover) with a large imperial shield engraved in wood, 263 sheets and 1 colophon sheet, printer's mark on the back. Current full leather binding with parchment cover for title and year.

Notes: Good edition of this key text for the History of Spanish Law. Initially conceived as a local jurisdiction granted to the cities of Aguilar de Campo and Sahagún in 1255, it ended up -along with the Siete Partidas- becoming "de facto" in Castilian law. Alfonso X imposed it in some cases above local regulations, confronting the privileged nobility. This edition also contains the "Leyes del Estilo", also known as "Declaraciones sobre las Leyes del Fuero", which constitute an anonymous code of judgments and pronouncements that elaborate, for the most part, the laws contained in the Royal Jurisprudence.

Conservation: Fair condition. Small old restorations, slightly darkened paper, short margins and slight moisture marks on some pages.
